Trap Doors

Close your eyes can you remember the time when Winston Churchill led the line
Won hearts and minds on stirring speeches in the streets on the beaches
We were the island with the longest reach guardians to freedom of speech
Refused to look the other way when Adolf Hitler led Germany astray
Undeniably our finest hour unaccommodating and defiant to evils power

Look at us then and look at us now the path of equality we strayed somehow
Should of stopped there with everyone’s equal but its different now brought out a sequel. Politically corrects got our national anthem at gun point held to ransom
Worked so hard at euphoric inclusion now for the comedown of exclusion

Take it off that Jesus cross- that’s what I mean the point is lost
In the pub we hide our 3 lion shirts shouldn't St Georges red and white come first?
Still fearful of what we don’t know purity of the burka lost in the snow
Why should it matter black brown or white Muslims/ Christians left to pray how they like.
Blinded by labels-church and mosque, ill say it again the point is lost
At times like these we need guidance this road will lead us back to violence

In a multi faced culture we don’t all look the same but its our nations face that’s our unifying frame. If this is your country the place you were born then be proud to be English and oath be sworn

Be inspired by the one thing that can’t be changed
We’ll be the ones that choose Great Britain’s next stage
